The Eastpoint UMC Youth Center was blessed to host its first annual spring-cleanup event over Memorial Week. Originally dubbed “Nails & Pails,” Pastor Dee added “Mullet Tails” after she pulled together a fish fry to thank the wonderful volunteers who freshened up and spruced up our beloved church. There were “handy people” repairs, window washing, painting, organizing, cleaning, even building a new deck, and ADA ramp – all to make it a better place for the students, staff, and outreach ministries. Volunteers included members of St George Island United Methodist Church and an iServe team of volunteers from Killearn United Methodist Church (Tallahassee). iServe jumped in and replaced an old wooden deck by building a new and larger deck and adding a wheelchair ramp for ADA access. iServe members also waterproofed the new outdoor picnic tables and tackled more job jar items over their two-day stay. All agreed the workdays were a success; not just for what we accomplished from the job jar and under good weather, but also in the relationships and friendships built with each other, our brothers and sisters in Christ.
